Palaniselvam is an outstanding academician over the past three decades and currently functions as the Principal of Sri Gomathi Ambal Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Sankarankovil, in the state of Tamil Nadu.
A glimpse at his outstanding track record:
- In the year 1995, he joined the above-mentioned school, and slowly rose up the ranks within the institution, being a great inspiration to students and motivating them to levels of excellence
- During this tenure, he paved the way for innumerable young minds to pass out of the school in flying colours, and helped them face competitive exams with confidence and ease so that they achieve their dream of excelling in the field of their choice by guiding them to the right profession
- Apart from organising routine curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities in the school, he went on to conceptualise and organise several specialised events like Yoga Day, World Mental Health Day, Indian Constitution Day, Drug Eradication Awareness Camp, May Day, and Fruits Day
- He organised many motivational programmes for students, and initiated student clubs for Science, English, Mathematics and Economics, for students to hone and develop their communicative skills and level up with kit-based interaction and project as a live session. He was recognised and rewarded by JACKHI Book of World Records during 2024 for such initiatives
- Bagged the prestigious state-level “Best Teacher” award for the academic year 2016-17 and was endorsed by JCI India as the “Best President”. Also, he facilitated the conducting of special classes for slow learners, thus showing inclusiveness in the overall growth of the school
- As an outstanding mathematician, he received the coveted “Ramanujar Award” for the year 2024 in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) category
- Received the prestigious “Ezhuthani Award” for the year 2025
- Currently serving as the president of the Puthiya Parvai Seva Trust, a not-for-profit organisation that works towards the upliftment and betterment of the socially marginalised
- He has organised free eye camps and health-screening programmes for students, teachers and parents by partnering with local hospitals
- Invited dignitaries like the District Educational Officer to to preside over several motivational workshops for students
- By scheduling and conducting counselling programmes for girl students, he has created widespread awareness on their safety, self-protection and well-being on a day-to-day basis
- He encouraged and enabled students to visit the District Science Centre aimed at empowering them to deepen their scientific understanding and enhance their thirst for learning
- He has brought about great awareness in students and teachers alike, in planning a tour of various sites of historic significance, instilling in them the true sense of unity in diversity, thus deepening their knowledge of history and culture
- He conducted a planetarium show on the school premises to create a passion for science and astronomy in the students
- He organised a book fair in the school to foster love for reading and knowledge enhancement
- In times of natural disasters and calamities, he has ensured great social outreach to the needy by encouraging teachers and students alike to readily and willingly reach out with a helping hand
- He is an excellent resource person who always encourages staff members of the school to pursue their higher studies
